MY EVERYDAY SKINCARE
People very often ask me which skin care products are my favorite, what do I use myself at night and in the morning? Well… you asked for it… here you go!
The first thing I do every morning when I wake up (and to help me wake up) is spritz my face with Simply Divine Botanicals C-Weed Serum or Plump Up the Volume(either, or both). These are two products that would make me feel hugely deprived if I had to live without them. The C-Weed Serum comes in a small bottle that comes in under the limit of liquid ounces you can carry on a plane… so this is essential in my carry-on and I'll spray it on my face throughout every flight - everyone knows planes dry you out like crazy. And these sprays are not just hydrating, they're full of the best mineral rich intense sea nutrition.
Black Velvet… this murky dark face cleanser (also from Simply Divine) includes aloe vera, papaya and banana among the tasty sounding list of ingredients, and I have one by the sink and one in the shower. Men love it too (and boys… my little brother is hooked. He'll be mad at me for calling him a boy… but my point is… good for young, occasionally problematic skin too.... After cleansing, a spray of C-Weed Serum, let it dry, then follow with Plump up the Volume. Then… Alkaitis Herbal Toner is just about the most refreshing thing you can put on your face… and you put in straight on, you don't use it to wipe your face clean. Bee Yummy Skin Food… everyone loves this product and they should… I put it all over my face and… décolletage, as that area is called. Pack Your Bags eye gel is the best in the morning for getting rid of poofiness. I'm usually not running out the door right away… but before make up, the Alkaitis Day Cream goes on, or sometimes Simply Divine Rose Day Cream. Either one… I love them both dearly. It's a tough competition.
What happens in the shower? Lathering up of Skinny Skinny soaps… I LOVE these soaps, and their packaging is so nice that I like to have my back up bars on display on the shelf, and then I feel bad unwrapping them. And they somehow manage to last forever and come in the yummiest scents. Lemon and Blood Orange is my favorite. I've got one of those loofah mitts onto which I squirt Simply Divine Pink Grapefruit Outer Body Experience, (more refreshing citrus!) which lathers really nicely - yes an outer body experience for sure. Peel Me a Papaya… this is a powder that I mix with a little of the pink grapefruit outer body experience to make a paste and use as an exfoliant, on my face and all over. For shaving (my legs, and yes I shave my underarms)… there is a big tub of our Virgin Coconut Butter handy that I can reach from the shower (I also have a tub in my kitchen cupboard for shakes and more). The coconut butter goes on my legs for shaving, but I put it all over like body oil so I'm already lubed up when I'm getting out of shower. The only thing is that it makes your shower/tub floor really slippery, so be careful!
Body Lotion… now here it all depends. If I have to get dressed quickly, Farmeasthetics Lavender Body Milk or Simply Divine Body Milk… because both are more… milky rather than oily, and slide on quick and soak in. If I have time to hang out in my bathrobe (or fluffy soft bamboo towel!) then I either cover myself in more coconut butter, or if I want my skin to be super soft for hours and hours, Simply Divine Pink Grapefruit Body Cream takes a bit longer to put on because it's so thick, and you'll be a bit oily for a while, but hours later, even in the wintertime, you'll still be baby soft. Also, very similar in effect is the How Now Brown Cacao body cream, which glides on really fast and smooth, but this is like an indulgence and you have to be prepared to smell like tasty chocolate all day. Which I actually love and so I'm a bit addicted to this product. Sometimes I even rub a dab into my neck before I go out, just because I like to smell like chocolate.
At night… more coconut butter on my eyes to wipe off make up and mascara. Then Black Velvet cleanser again. Then I use Farmaesthetics Pure Complexion Tonic in the pretty blue bottle. Wiping your face and neck with a cotton pad soaked with this tonic at the end of a day, you'll usually see all the extra dirt and make up on the pad that didn't come off just from cleansing. Then… the C-Weed Serum and Plump Up The Body spray routine. Then… once again it's a toss up between Alkaitis Night Cream, and Creme de Rose night cream. I love them both…both nice and rich for night time. Alkaitis Eye Cream goes on my eyes. Alkaitis products are a bit pricey, but they're so good and you only need to use the tiniest bit. Usually in the winter when it's dry, I'll also end up putting Melon Medley Oil (which smells really nicely like honeydew melon) or if really indulging, Alkaitis Nourishing Treatment Oil, directly on my face and hands just before bed, or else more coconut butter, yes on my face, as a lip balm, and then I put on all over the rest of me before I get into pajamas and into bed. Or, just into bed. ;-)
What else… Glitter Butter is pretty soft and sweet all over you in the summertime or at night when you go out and want your skin to sparkle!
There you go! Really… what you put on your skin is food… Dr. Alkaitis himself told me once that if you step on and smash a clove of garlic with your bare foot, within about ten minutes or so, your breath will smell like garlic. Now, I've never tried this, because I hate, yes hate, garlic. But I'm kind of curious. And the point is… what we rub on the outside of our bodies goes right in, so take a look at the ingredients of all the things you lather and lube yourself up with, and if you don't recognize them as edible, think about whether you really want it on your insides too...
